Kurt Malzer was born in South Africa and has degrees in both Chemical Engineering (1982 – Cape Town University) and and MBA (1998 – Georgia State). He has worked in various business sectors, including Petrochemical, Pulp and paper and Wood Processing, in a variety of roles, including Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Operations and Senior Management.
Kurt started working with Sasol in South Africa, specializing in manufacturing liquid fuels from a coal feedstock, for a period from 1982 to 1991. In 1991, he took over the operation of a pulp mill production management in Swaziland for Sappi Corporation, for period of three years.
In 1994, Kurt was hired by Fulghum Fibres, an Augusta-based wood processor, to grow this business in various geographic areas, including latin America. He moved his way up the organization to become it¹s COO in 2013, a position he held for 2 years. Though this 21 year period, Kurt helped grow and manage the company to become the dominant force in the wood processing world.
Kurt now brings his skill set to bear on growing Merit Globals growing presence in the market.
